Is there a legal Yahoo lotto going on each month with only 5winners or did I receive some weird e-mail?

Pikkewyn asked:
I was sent an e-mail from Yahoo saying I won some money from a lotto that Yahoo has automatically entered me in to, was this a hoax or does Yahoo actually do this?

It’s probably a fake. Look at the address who sent it. If it doesn’t look I legitimate it probably isn’t.

I’ve never heard of it and when it comes to most anything in life, if it sounds too good to be true, it is.

It’s a scam. The people who sent the email will eventually come up with some bogus reason for you to send money to get your “winnings.” There are no winnings. If you send money for your non existent winnings, the people will either disappear with your money, or find other reasons to get you to send more money.

Well, since there is no such thing as a Yahoo lotto, legal or otherwise, I’d have to say your email is spam. Yahoo does NOT conduct lotteries or give away money.

This is a SCAM. If you click on the below link this site confirms various email scams hitting the internet and provides an online form for the reporting of all scams and frauds – (with links for your own country.)…
Unscrupulous thieves have sent you this email and they are trying to part you from your hard earned cash. They will often ask you to call a premium rate number and keep you holding on whilst you rack up a huge phone bill. They are then paid a large proportion of this phone bill. They may ask you to divulge personal information about yourself or ask for your bank or credit card details. Do not divulge any such information under any circumstances. It is surprising how many innocent victims have been duped by these types of emails. Please remember the thieves who send them are very clever and extremely convincing. I suggest you delete the email and send it into cyberspace where it belongs.
